And with Malta Animal Awareness Week being marked around this time, it feels like a good moment to reflect on what pet awareness actually means. For me, it goes beyond loving our animals at home. It’s also about how they are welcomed into the world around us — in travel, hospitality, public spaces and everyday life. Thoughtful spaces. Responsible owners. Better understanding. One of the first things I check before booking a flight with Roy is simple: Can he actually fly in the cabin with me? 🐾✈️ And this is where things can get confusing because airline pet policies are NOT the same. Some European airlines allow small dogs in the cabin, usually subject to a maximum weight of 8kg for the dog + carrier. KM Malta Airlines’ limit is 10kg. Others don’t accept pets in the cabin at all, while some have different rules depending on the aircraft, route or destination. So before you book that “perfect” flight… check the airline’s current pet policy first. ⚠️ Important: airline policies, weight limits, carrier dimensions and route restrictions can change. For this year’s illustration of Diana, I chose her in the dress that became the Revenge Dress — but I wanted to tell a slightly different story. Not revenge. Not Charles. Not even the headlines. Just Diana, standing in her own light. “I do as I’m expected, what they say behind my back is none of my business, but I come back here and I know, when I turn my light off at night, that I did my best.” Perhaps that is the part of Diana I wanted to remember today. 🤍 My new illustration is now available on Etsy, for anyone who would like to keep a little piece of Diana’s story on their own wall.
